The three classes started in individual groups. First away were the 750cc class, with an advantage of 56 seconds and one credit lap, followed by the 1500cc u/s and 1100cc s/c class, with an advantage of 40 seconds. The 1500cc s/c cars were on scratch. Without individual times for all finishers it is not possible to produce a definitive "result on the road" apart from noting that Evans only had to complete 39 laps and could therefore finish no better than 8th on that basis and that Howe would drop down the result if any of the three drivers below him were within 40 seconds of his time.
